A QWERTY slider has not been the approach of major phone brands in recent times as everyone makes flashy touchscreen. There are still fans though who want that tactile feedback when they use the phone. Samsung gives in to this craving and gives you the best of both worlds thru the Captivate Glide.

Hardware

The Samsung Captivate Glide has a very simple form built with the usual lightweight plastic that its manufacturer uses plus some textured back cover to help with the grip. The rounded edges though makes the phone friendly to the palm. It has that old feel of cellphones before the new designs came in.

The back portion of the phone has the 8MP camera with an LED flash. On top are the headphone jack, port of the micro USB while the sides have the volume rocker and power button. At its base is the microphone and the slot for the microSD. On the face of the Captivate Glide is the 1.3MP camera. The 4-inch Super AMOLED screen gives the user enough space for comfortable manipulation of the different apps and functions of the phone.

If you still want the physical keyboard for that tactile feedback, this phone is perfect for you. The keyboard can be snapped out without any problem plus the keyboard is pretty spacious to avoid all the typo errors.

Software

The take of Samsung to give the Android a nice skin so even the less techie users will be very comfortable to use it is a very commendable touch. From the box, you will have seven screens, and if that is quite too much, you can trash what you do not want. Too bad though that you do not have options to customize and pin the buttons that you often use.

Conclusion

Users who are fans of the QWERTY keyboard will find the Captivate Glide an ideal phone but if you will be on a contract, add a few more dollars and you will be able to get a higher end spec phone. Just saying.

The Samsung S5260 Star II is a follow up to the Samsung bestseller and it has some pretty big shoes to fill in.

The latest offering from the Korean smartphone manufacturer makes use of the TouchWiz interface to give the owners full control of the phone.

Features

The S5260 Star II is a bar phone with a 3”touch screen. It measures 107.4 x 54 x 12.5 mm and weighing only 93.9 grams. It makes use of the TouchWiz platform that also allows multitasking. The phone is equipped with a 3MP camera that has smile detection. You can connect via Bluetooth or WiFi. It also has an FM radio, sound enhancement, accelerometer sensor, and it is Twitter and Facebook integrated.

The interface of the phone is Andoid-ish but you might not be too happy with the limited options for Java apps compared to Bada or Android apps.

Consumers though might look for a 3G connection but the manufacturer had to let that go to keep the price of the unit down. Initial reviews point to the lack of multitouch as among the thumbs down of this product. We are not sure yet though if it will be available for the final production.

Overall the S5260 Star II has a good feel to the hands with the impression of affordability that does not shout cheapness of materials used. The design of the product follows the lines of its predecessor.

The upgrades done for this second instalment of the Star series are not that big given that there is no multitouch, you only get a basic camera, and you don’t have 3G connection. We still want to see how the market will react to the Samsung S5260 Star II.

For example, the Samsung Galaxy S features a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1GHz application processor that enables vibrant 720p HD video playback, rich augmented reality content through Layar Reality Browser, and advanced LBS (Location Based Services). The Samsung GT-I9000 also has the “Social Hub” feature that provides always-on social networks connectivity.

The phone itself looks completely different too, as it certainly looks chic and different and I have to say that I love it!

Not only does the Samsung Diva S7070 come in a beautiful color but there are a ton of different features that are awesome for women. For example: a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, TouchWiz UI, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, social networking integration, a 3.5mm headset jack, and a 3.2MP Auto Focus camera with a “beauty shot” feature. The phone also features a diamond-shaped navigation key and a fashionable back cover.

You want a phone for a woman? Samsung really thought about it when they designed the Samsung Diva!

The smart phone, with Windows Mobile 6.5 and a touch screen, will go for two hundred dollars.

The touch screen has one of the biggest displays you will fine, and it utilizes the increasingly popular AMOLED technology, so the display is extra bright and vibrant.

The screen itself is able to turn into a full QWERTY keyboard, virtual style, and for quicker text messages, it features Swype. This requires just one continuous movement of the user’s finger across the keyboard.

Its Internet Explorer Mobile browser has been redesigned, so it looks and feels updated. Access your Twitter page, your Facebook, and enjoy any number of other features that promise to make the Omnia 2 quite a bit similar to the reigning smart phone champ, the iPhone.

It has a touch screen handset, complete with a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out for easy access, as well as a moderately cool 3.0 megapixel camera, which also doubles as a camcorder. As well, the in phone editing options are considered excellent.

Because the handset does not have a particularly fantastic operating system, the Rogue falls a little shy of being a true smart phone. Still and all, you will be able to keep track of your email accounts, as well as text messages, instant messages, and multimedia messages.

The phone also has high speed internet, along with access to a number of services from Verizon, such as VCAST and Rhapsody, video, and a GPS from VZ Navigator.

This phone will also have a DivX playback support, as well as be able to connect to both Bluetooth and GPS. It also has a USB 2.0 and HSDPA connectivity, so really, with this incredible phone you can stay pretty much connected to anything at all. While this phone is still on the low down and unannounced phase, it is definitely coming soon!

So watch out for the Symbian S60 Smartphone, it is going to come quick!

I have a confession to make to you guys – it is a confession that I have been holding in for quite a while … I’m a gamer. I love all sorts of different games and the fact that Samsung has taken us gamers into consideration means a hell of a lot to me. Not only is the newest Samsung F480 Games Edition one of the coolest looking phones call around but it is definitely a phone for the gamers.

For instance, it comes with 5 games pre-installed and while you can not choose the games that are pre-installed, they are freaking fun! It also has a screen that you can touch and a HSDPA connectivity. While this phone is not available right at this moment, it is definitely a phone that you need to look forward to!

So all of you gamers out there, this phone costs an arm and a leg (starting at $564), it is definitely worth it … I mean, it’s for you!
