Review Smartphones

Verizon just announced that the new Samsung Omnia 2 will be in stores in time for the holiday season — by December 2, to be exact. The smart phone, with Windows Mobile 6.5 and a touch screen, will go for two hundred dollars.

The touch screen has one of the biggest displays you will fine, and it utilizes the increasingly popular AMOLED technology, so the display is extra bright and vibrant.

The screen itself is able to turn into a full QWERTY keyboard, virtual style, and for quicker text messages, it features Swype. This requires just one continuous movement of the user’s finger across the keyboard.

Its Internet Explorer Mobile browser has been redesigned, so it looks and feels updated. Access your Twitter page, your Facebook, and enjoy any number of other features that promise to make the Omnia 2 quite a bit similar to the reigning smart phone champ, the iPhone.

LG is a company that I would not think that would produce some of the best phones on the market but – this is a company that is constantly surprising me.  Not only have they come out with some of the brightest and best looking phones in the world, but the brand new GU280 Popcorn for Italy is awesome!  This is yet another slider phone, but the specs are a different story.

Not only does the GU280 Popcorn have a 2 inch 176×220 TFT display, but the 1.3MP camera is also incredible.  Personally, I happen to love the 20MB of internal memory and the fact that you can connect your Bluetooth to it.  Also, this phone has a battery that can support up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby mode.

This phone is also ideal for texting, because the buttons are just a little bigger and really easy to read.  This is the perfect phone for the ultimate girly-girl!

The Samsung Rogue is reviewing fairly well thus far. It has a touch screen handset, complete with a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out for easy access, as well as a moderately cool 3.0 megapixel camera, which also doubles as a camcorder. As well, the in phone editing options are considered excellent.

Because the handset does not have a particularly fantastic operating system, the Rogue falls a little shy of being a true smart phone. Still and all, you will be able to keep track of your email accounts, as well as text messages, instant messages, and multimedia messages.

The phone also has high speed internet, along with access to a number of services from Verizon, such as VCAST and Rhapsody, video, and a GPS from VZ Navigator.

I have to be honest, I have never heard of Asus. That really is not so shocking, since the Asus P527 is the manufacturer’s first entry into the smart phone market in the United States. It has quite an enviable international reputation and it is considered something of a GPS powerhouse. But is it worth all the hype?

Well, the device definitely has a whole lot of potential, leaving reviewers eager to see what Asus will have next for the U.S. market.

But potential is a long way from successful, isn’t it? The Asus P527 has a tendency to, well, crash after it has been on for a while. The applications pile up, which causes the Windows Mobile interface to crash. It is slow even when one is not using a lot of programs.

So, the phone is underpowered by quite a lot, the dedicated buttons are not really intuitive, and some needed apps do not open. However, the navigation software is great, it is light, and the battery life is excellent.

Samsung, by far is the leading company for cell phones.  I think that Samsung has come out with so many phones, it really does make it hard to keep track of them all, and however … their newest phone is crazy!  They came come out with the world’s first 12MP camera phone that has 3x optical zoom.  This is not just another Samsung phone; this is a breakthrough in technology!

The Samsung SCH-W880 12MP Camera Phone does not look like a regular phone at all.  In fact, this little beauty actually looks like a camera with no phone, however – I can assure you that you will be able to make all sorts of calls on this phone!  Now, onto the specs!

The Samsung SCH-W880 12MP Camera Phone includes: a 6x digital zoom with auto focus, an image stabilization, a face detection, a Xenon flash and 720p video recording at 30fps. Additional specs include a 3.3-inch AMOLED WVGA touchscreen display and a 4GB of internal memory.

So let’s say that this Labor Day you have been shopping for a brand new phone – you want one of the best phones on the market and you will not settle for less.  You came home empty handed didn’t you?  That’s because the HTC Tattoo Google Android Smartphone isn’t out yet!  This is one of the smartest phones that is going to be coming out this year and it is also one of the cutest!

The HTC Tattoo Google Android Smartphone features:  a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen LCD with a resolution of 240 x 320, HTC’s Sense UI, a 3.2MP shooter with auto-focus, a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, and a 512MB of RAM.  While Europe gets to have this phone next month – soon enough it will be in the states.

While there is no word on pricing as of right at this moment, it will definitely have quite a price tag on it I’m sure.

So let’s say that you have been searching for a way that you can make your iPhone into something other than a cell phone.  I mean, if you are going to make a cell phone into something other than a cell phone, the iPhone should be the phone that you turn to right?  That is exactly why the iPhone has so many different accessories and Sirius has just added to the iPhone accessory vault.

In August, they actually came up with the iPhone XM SkyDock that will actually make your iPhone or iPod Touch into a satellite radio.  To me … that is something that I do not think that I would particularly like, if only because I hate Sirius radio, however … the SkyDock does look pretty freakin’ cool.

The catch?  The SkyDock itself is around $120.00 and then you have to pay another $13.00 a month in order to listen to the radio … kind of a rip right?

In a world where you can do everything and have everything on your phone, it is a wonder why companies are still coming out with slider phones … however; I have to admit that I am very excited about the Samsung S3100 Slider Phone’s.  These phones are not only chic looking, but one of them is pink!  One thing that I love about the latest technology is all of the colors that you can get your phone in and pink is definitely one I love!

Samsung has finally unveiled the Samsung S3100 Slider Phone and while these phones might be small, they pack a huge punch.  These entry-level phones offer a 2.1-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels, 262k colors, a 1.3MP camera, an MP3 player, a NetFront 3.5 Web browser, email, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 and supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) connectivity.

Not to mention that you can talk up for 530 minutes without having any worries and standby is 490 hours!  Stay tuned for price and availability!

Now that we have discussed a few of the accessories for phones, let’s get back to the grind and talk about some applications for phones that are going to be available – for example, Microsoft Office Mobile?  Oh yes, it is coming and it is coming to Nokia.  Nokia is a phone company that has grown and grown and I swear – just when I think that this particular phone carrier company is going to fizzle, they come back with something like this.

Nokia is not the leading provider in the way of smartphones, but I think that their sales are going to skyrocket as soon as people find out that Microsoft Office Mobile has teamed up with Nokia and it is going to be on every single smartphone that Nokia produces – per their contract of course.  The great thing about Microsoft Office Mobile is that at work … I use Microsoft office all of the time and now – now you will be able to get all of those documents right on your phone!

This particular office is going to contain Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote – all of which I use on a daily basis.  I am so excited about this and I can not wait for it to happen!
